This compact house in trendy Port Melbourne barely a bike ride from Melbourne’s CBD, has been designed by Norman Day + Associates Architects.
The brief was to design an interesting, comfortable home for the client’s family of 5, including ‘world’s best practice’ for energy reduction and sustainability using integrated vegetation on facades and the roof, sustainable construction materials, stormwater and solar harvesting and low energy services.
SWA has been engaged by the client to provide recyclable steel framing systems for the windows and doors including the glazed and louvred thermal ‘chimney’ structures that provide both light and ventilation into the living spaces below.
We have been working very closely with client, builder and architect to ensure the window and door frames enhance this elegant, functional and ‘low footprint’ home.
